When a young professional couple moved into their first home, they knew the existing bathroom didn’t reflect how they wanted to live. Their vision was to transform the space into a modern, sanctuary-style bathroom that felt calm and luxurious, while still being practical for busy day-to-day routines.

During the initial design consultation, we took time to understand how the bathroom would be used. The clients wanted both a large enclosed shower and a full-sized bath, with enough circulation space to move comfortably around the room. Storage was a key priority, as was a layout that supported their routine of bathing first, followed immediately by showering. Creating a sense of flow and ease of use was just as important as achieving a high-end finish.

To meet these requirements, we designed a carefully considered layout that maximised space without compromising comfort. The final design includes a generous 1400 x 900mm walk-in shower, providing a true spa-like experience, alongside a full-sized bath with a fixed glass screen. An overhead rainfall shower was paired with a separate handheld shower, allowing for effortless hair rinsing over the bath and easy cleaning. Recessed wall controls positioned at the end of the bath further enhanced usability and kept the space feeling uncluttered.

Storage was seamlessly integrated into the design. A wide basin with wall-hung drawer units provides easy-access storage while maintaining an open, floating feel. Tall mirrored cabinets were installed to discreetly house toiletries while reflecting light around the room, making the space feel brighter and more expansive. A demisting mirror adds everyday convenience, particularly during busy mornings.

Aesthetically, the bathroom strikes a perfect balance between warmth and contemporary style. Textured wall tiles soften the space and add visual interest, while black brassware delivers a bold, high-end contrast that elevates the overall design. Underfoot, luxury vinyl floor tiles were chosen for their durability, warmth, and slip resistance — ideal for a bathroom used daily.

To deliver this transformation, the bathroom was fully stripped back. Our team removed all existing fixtures and false walls before carrying out a complete plumbing reconfiguration to suit the new layout. The electrical system was fully renewed, including power for the demisting mirror, recessed ceiling spotlights, and subtle motion-sensor LED lighting beneath the vanity unit, adding both practicality and ambience.

The result is a beautifully balanced bathroom that feels calm, functional, and luxurious. What was once a standard first-home bathroom has been transformed into a personal retreat — perfectly suited to modern professional living.
