Open-Plan Kitchen Diner Transformation in Barton on Sea

When our clients in Barton on Sea approached us about renovating their kitchen, their goal was to create a much larger, more sociable space that better suited modern family living. The existing layout consisted of two separate rooms that felt disconnected and limited how the kitchen could be used. Their vision was to combine the rooms into a spacious open-plan kitchen diner where cooking, dining, and spending time together could all happen naturally.

From the outset, the priority was to create a layout that felt open and welcoming while still maintaining a sense of structure between the kitchen and the surrounding living spaces. The kitchen also needed to offer plenty of storage and high-quality appliances, ensuring the finished room would be as practical as it was visually striking.

To bring the vision to life, we worked closely with Scott from Hasko Kitchens to design a completely new kitchen layout tailored to the space. The design focused on creating a seamless flow between the newly combined areas while ensuring the kitchen itself remained the central feature of the room.

A key part of the design involved removing the existing doorway between the hallway and kitchen. This allowed us to simplify the layout and improve circulation through the home. In its place, we created a new picket-style door leading into the lounge, providing a stylish transition between spaces while maintaining character within the property.

Opening up the two rooms created a much larger footprint, giving us the flexibility to introduce a more generous kitchen design with improved storage and worktop space. The layout was carefully planned to ensure everything felt balanced and practical for everyday use.

To deliver the project, we began by removing the internal wall separating the two rooms, immediately transforming the feel of the ground floor. Once the structural work was complete, we blocked up the original doorway connecting the hallway to the kitchen and installed the new picket door leading into the lounge.

With the new layout in place, we coordinated new plumbing, electrical work, and heating adjustments to support the updated kitchen design. This ensured all appliances and services were positioned exactly where they needed to be for both functionality and aesthetics.

The kitchen installation itself features quartz worktops, chosen for their durability and clean, contemporary finish. These provide generous preparation space while complementing the overall design of the room. An induction hob was installed for efficient, modern cooking, paired with high-quality Neff appliances to deliver both performance and reliability.

Storage was also a major consideration in the final design. Integrated solutions, including a fridge freezer, dishwasher, and ample cabinetry, ensure the kitchen remains organised and clutter-free. And for a finishing touch that our clients particularly loved, the kitchen also includes the ultimate addition for entertaining — a dedicated wine cooler.

The result is a truly stunning open-plan kitchen diner in Barton on Sea that has completely transformed how the space is used. The room now feels bright, spacious, and perfectly suited to both everyday family life and entertaining guests. With thoughtful design, premium materials, and expert installation, the kitchen has become the heart of the home — and our clients were absolutely thrilled with the finished result.
