Set within a beautiful lodge overlooking the Solent, this primary ensuite renovation in Milford on Sea was all about creating a brighter, more spacious bathroom that felt better connected to its stunning coastal surroundings. While the existing room was functional, it lacked the storage, accessibility, and sense of openness our clients were looking for. Their goal was to create a calm, practical space that made everyday routines easier while complementing the relaxed coastal lifestyle they enjoy.

The original layout included a shower enclosure, double washbasin, and wall-hung storage units, but the arrangement made the room feel more cramped than it needed to be. Storage was limited, access to the shower could be improved, and the overall space didn’t make the most of its footprint. By carefully rethinking the layout, we were able to create a bathroom that feels significantly larger, more organised, and much easier to use.

The redesign centred around installing a larger shower area, creating a more comfortable and accessible showering experience. A spacious shower tray was fitted alongside a glass screen and deflector panel, maintaining an open feel while providing effective splash protection. To keep maintenance simple, we installed easy-to-clean shower wall panels, offering a sleek, modern finish without the ongoing upkeep associated with traditional grout lines.

Behind the scenes, the plumbing was fully adapted to support the new layout. This included renewing pipework for the shower valve, waste connections, and basin, ensuring everything functioned efficiently and reliably for years to come. These essential upgrades allowed us to optimise the room without compromise.

Storage was a major focus throughout the design. We installed a large drawer unit beneath the basin, providing practical and accessible storage for toiletries and everyday essentials. Unlike traditional cupboards, the drawer system allows items at the back to be reached easily, helping to keep the bathroom organised and clutter-free. Additional storage was provided through a wall-hung mirrored cabinet, which not only reflects light around the room but also includes an integrated electrical socket for charging toothbrushes and other personal care devices discreetly out of sight.

Within the shower enclosure, a recessed niche was incorporated into the wall, creating a dedicated space for shampoos, soaps, and shower products. This small detail helps maintain the clean, uncluttered aesthetic while adding valuable functionality.

One of the more unique aspects of this project was our client’s involvement in the finishing touches. Being particularly hands-on, they chose to complete the tiling above the basin themselves, adding a personal touch to the finished room. While many clients prefer us to handle every aspect of the installation, it was a pleasure to support them in creating a space that felt even more personal and rewarding.
