Designing a bathroom within a loft conversion always presents a unique challenge — making every inch of space work as efficiently as possible. For our client in Hordle, the priority was creating an en-suite that felt open, stylish, and comfortable despite the compact footprint. They wanted a bathroom that delivered a spacious shower, streamlined storage, coordinated furniture, and a touch of glamour, all while maintaining practicality for everyday use.

The key to achieving this was thoughtful planning and a design that made the most of the loft’s architectural features. Within the room, head height was carefully considered, particularly beneath the sloping eaves. To maximise usable space, a generous shower cubicle was positioned where the ceiling height allowed for a comfortable showering experience. The enclosure was chosen for its clean lines and easy-to-maintain design, ensuring the shower not only feels spacious but is also simple to keep looking pristine.

To help the room feel larger and more cohesive, matching vanity and WC units were installed. This coordinated approach creates visual continuity, which is especially important in smaller spaces. Concealed cisterns and integrated storage keep surfaces clutter-free while providing practical places to store everyday essentials. The result is a bathroom that feels calm, organised, and thoughtfully designed.

Material choices played a significant role in elevating the overall look of the space. We selected beautiful tiles from Porcelanosa, chosen for their subtle shimmer and luxurious finish. Positioned beneath the Velux window, the tiles gently catch the natural light throughout the day, adding movement and brightness to the room without overpowering the design. This reflective quality helps the space feel lighter and more open.

The cabinetry was finished in a striking fjord green, adding depth and character to the design while maintaining a sophisticated tone. Paired with a black sparkly worktop, the look subtly nods to 1970s-inspired glamour while still feeling contemporary and refined. This combination gives the en-suite a distinctive personality without overwhelming the compact space.

To complete the design, sleek chrome brassware was installed throughout the room. The polished finish introduces brightness and ties together the modern and retro influences of the design scheme, creating a cohesive and stylish result.

Behind the finished appearance was a carefully managed technical transformation. The existing bathroom suite was fully stripped out, with full protection installed for the staircase and bedroom carpets — an essential step when working within a loft conversion. Plumbing was completely reorganised to suit the new layout, ensuring each fixture was positioned for both practicality and efficient use of space.

Old tiles and plasterboard were removed to create a clean foundation before new plasterboard was installed to provide smooth, durable walls. From there, precision tiling and expert installation brought the design together seamlessly, ensuring every detail was finished to a high standard.

The result is a beautifully transformed loft en-suite in Hordle that feels far larger than its footprint suggests. What was once a tight and awkward bathroom is now a light-filled, stylish space with smart storage, a generous shower, and elegant finishes. Our client was delighted with the transformation, amazed at how well the layout works and how spacious the room now feels — proof that with thoughtful design, even the smallest spaces can deliver standout results.
