When our clients in Lymington approached us about redesigning their primary en-suite bathroom, their vision was clear: transform a poorly laid-out space into a luxurious yet practical retreat. Our goal was to completely rethink the layout, creating a bathroom that balanced classic design with modern comfort while remaining sympathetic to the home’s heritage.

Our design solution centred on reorganising the plumbing to allow for a striking focal point: a modern-Victorian roll-top bath with elegant claw feet, beautifully positioned beneath the window. This placement maximises natural light and immediately creates a sense of luxury and calm within the room. The bath becomes the centrepiece of the space, drawing the eye and reinforcing the traditional character of the home.

To complement the period aesthetic while maintaining practicality, we selected soft, non-slip checkerboard vinyl flooring. This classic pattern provides visual interest and nods to traditional bathroom design, while the vinyl material ensures durability, warmth underfoot, and easy maintenance, ideal for everyday use.

A traditional pedestal basin was installed to maintain the timeless feel while keeping the room visually open. Paired with a chrome towel rail, it adds both warmth and functionality without overwhelming the space. Carefully chosen brassware enhances the overall design, providing subtle detailing that ties the room together.

To complete the bathing experience, we fitted a telephone-style handset shower, a feature that perfectly suits the modern-Victorian theme. This allows for convenient rinsing and cleaning while preserving the elegant, heritage-inspired look of the bathroom.
